Where Does Creativity Come From? Ogilvy & Mather YouTube Brand Channel Looks at Inspiration
Curated Videos Showcase What Inspires Those Who Create
CANNES, France, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Create or Else, a new global YouTube Channel founded and curated by Ogilvy & Mather to celebrate what inspires creative ideas, was announced today at a press conference at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.
"It is only fitting that we announce Create or Else in Cannes, where the best creative ideas across all media channels are honored and shared," said Tham Khai Meng, Creative Director and Chairman, Worldwide Creative Council of Ogilvy & Mather. "Create or Else is a destination to engage and encourage those around the world to become part of a community and conversation about what is inspiring. This supports our Pervasive Creativity initiative."
Rotating curators from around the world will provide a changing line-up of video content that will include vignettes with inspirational subjects across all fields from arts to science to industry and beyond. Guests from creative industries will be invited to curate the channel, bringing content that provokes discussion and the flow of ideas. Lars Bastholm, Chief Digital Creative Officer for O&M North America and Chief Creative Officer for O&M New York, will be the first curator for Create or Else.
"If you're anything like most creative people, you're always looking for inspiration and unique expressions. If you're anything like me, you can easily spend untold hours scouring the wild west of the Internet in the vain hope of finding a glimmer of inspiration," said Mr. Bastholm. "Create or Else was created to give you a starting point for your journey. We hope you'll find that the ever-changing content inspires and entertains you."
The first series of videos include an interview with "meditative artist" Suran Song, whose geometric Mandala artworks begin as gesture drawings and evolve through color, patterns and vibration. Brick Artist Nathan Sawaya creates large-scale sculptures using only toy building-blocks, LEGO® bricks. Other artists include Fashion Photographer Roderick Angel, Actor/Athlete Casey Siemaszko, and Painter Alexander Esguerra. The unfolding stories of artists and thinkers presented in short films reveal both original, thought-provoking work and reflections on where the ideas originate.
The development of Create or Else is an evolution of Ogilvy's own online, integrated digital video practice that works with agency clients to maximize this new space as a marketing platform.
