WGEN-TV Debuts New and Original Comedy Series 'El Show Con Tony Benitez'
The original one-hour daily production, starring Tony Benitez, launches December 3 with a special first edition November 21 at 7 p.m. ET
MIAMI, Nov. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- WGEN-TV (GENTV) - the Miami-based independent channel part of Caracol Television Group – announced the launch of El Show con Tony Benitez. The new and original one-hour daily comedy talk series hosted by Tony Benitez premieres December 3, airing Monday through Friday from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. ET. Before the official debut, GENTV will broadcast a special Thanksgiving day edition with a guest appearance by Jorge Villamizar, lead singer of Latin pop band Bacilos.

The Cuban actor, director and comedian makes his way onto GENTV, charming the audience with his humoristic talent and extensive theatrical background. Benitez developed his ability to light up the stage while working with nationally recognized TV networks such as Telemundo, Univision, America TeVe and Mega TV.

The show welcomes a passionate new fanbase for GENTV, featuring a perfect mix of segments including opening monologues by Tony Benitez, monthly running gags, irresistible sketches, 'dangerous' street stunts and interviews with celebrity guests participating in comedy skits and performances. El Show will regularly feature different acts with various cast members, including seasoned actors, Luis Miguel Ovan and Carmen Daysi. In addition, El Show's house band is led by 18-time Grammy Award Nominee and world renowned music producer, Marlow Rosado. Having worked with some of the most prominent artists in Latin music, such as Ricky Martin, Celia Cruz and Elvis Crespo; Rosado's experience and musical talent will make El Show the go-to destination for music and celebrities.
El Show will be produced daily in GENTV's Doral studios, whose set-up includes three main areas: a stage for interviews and desk bits on the left, a center stage with a red velvet curtain that leads to Tony's entrance monologue, and a stage for celebrity guest performances on the right. Moreover, the studio lay-out incorporates a designated audience area and a versatile set for sketch comedy acts.
