Western Europe eLearning Market to Reach $8.1 billion by 2016
New Ambient Insight Report Identifies eLearning Revenues in Western Europe
SEATTLE, Sept. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The growth rate for Self-paced eLearning in Western Europe is 5.8% and revenues will reach $8.1 billion by 2016, up from $6.1 billion in 2011, according to a new Ambient Insight report called, "The Western Europe Market for Self-paced eLearning Products and Services: 2011-2016 Forecast and Analysis."
In this regional report, revenue forecasts are broken out for twenty-two countries: Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Italy, Finland, Belgium, Norway, Poland, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Austria, Ireland, Slovakia, Greece, Bulgaria, Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Romania.
"While the aggregate growth rate in Western Europe is 5.8%, several countries have significantly higher growth rates. For example, the market in one country is growing at a breathtaking 37.6%," comments Sam S. Adkins, Chief Research Officer. "The countries with high growth rates are new markets offering suppliers significant new revenue opportunities. This is also true in Eastern Europe, which we cover in a separate report."

There are two sections in this report: a demand-side analysis and a supply-side analysis. Additionally, there is an index of suppliers and resellers competing in the region. The demand-side analysis provides suppliers with insight into the buying behavior in the top buying countries in Western Europe.
"In the current Western Europe market, revenues are still concentrated in the corporate buying segments in certain countries," reports Adkins. "This will change over the forecast period with academic institutions outspending corporate buyers by 2016. There are now major digitization efforts going on in the school systems in France, Poland, Italy, Portugal, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Spain."
The supply-side section provides revenue forecasts for five types of Self-paced eLearning products and services including: packaged content, custom content development services, cloud-based authoring tools and learning platform services, installed authoring tools, and installed learning platforms.
"The eLearning product type that will generate the highest revenues in Western Europe throughout the forecast period is packaged content," comments CEO Tyson Greer. "There is a surge in demand for cloud-based authoring tools and platforms in Western Europe. The growth rate is 13.6%, the highest of all products in the region."
One interesting trend in Western Europe is the growing presence of national virtual universities funded by governments. Finland, Sweden, Norway, Bulgaria, and Switzerland have national virtual universities. The Bavarian Virtual University in Germany is an example of a state-funded virtual campus.
"Over 250 suppliers operating in specific countries in Western Europe are cited in this report," adds Adkins. "This will help international suppliers identify local partners, distributors, and potential merger and acquisition (M&A) targets. Domestic resellers are identified as well, providing an entry point for non-domestic eLearning suppliers."
