WellCare Names Michael Radu Senior Vice President, Clinical Operations and Business Development
TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 31, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG) announced it has named Michael Radu to the newly created position of senior vice president, clinical operations and business development, effective today. Radu provides executive leadership over a new structure that combines clinical services, pharmacy and business development. He is responsible for delivering operational excellence in support of effective and efficient coordination of care to best meet member needs, and for helping to drive the company's strategic growth efforts. He will report to WellCare's chief executive officer, Ken Burdick.
Radu most recently served as the chief executive officer of Health Essentials and has more than
25 years of experience in the managed care industry including Medicaid and Medicare, medical group administration, business development, operations and state public affairs at companies including UnitedHealthcare, Lifemark and Optum.
"Mike has deep experience and a successful track record in leading clinical organizations and driving business development, which are critical components of WellCare's strategy for growth and operational excellence," said Burdick. Radu earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and holds an MBA in finance from the University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business.
Dr. Steve Goldberg will continue to report to Burdick as senior vice president and Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and will focus on the company's clinical innovation.
