Welcoming the Future of Broadcast! 'KOBA 2013' Opened
SEOUL, South Korea, May 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The 23rd Korea International Broadcast, Audio & Lighting Equipment Show was held at COEX from May 13th to the 16th.
With the theme of "Broadcasting opens the future! Join the future wave!" KOBA is the only specialized global exhibition related with the converging broadcast industry. The exhibition floor was expanded 12% compared to last year, reaching the size of 25,405 sqm.
Selected as a promising exhibition to help the growth of the industry by the government, Assembly of Future Planning Science, Broadcasting and Communications Committee, Vice Minister of Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning and other representatives attended the opening ceremony.
839 companies from 33 countries attended KOBA 2013 to display 4K, UHD, Smart TV, Mobile TV, Digital Contents, Camera, VTR, Post-Production System, Delivery & Distribution Equipment, Video Post-Production Equipment, Character Generator, and CATV System, Internet/Satellite Broadcasting Equipment, Audio equipment like Pro Audio, Microphone, Console, Mixer and instruments, Pro 8 Light/Stage Equipment and others. About 700 models of ten thousand units were displayed, which gave the visitors of KOBA 2013 a great chance to learn about the latest products.
Dealing with all-around issues of broadcasting industry such as 4K, UHD, Smart Technology, Digital Radio, Main broadcasting equipment, broadcasting technology and related policies, the conference was expected to draw a great attention from industry officials.
At KOBA 2013 visitors could view major companies' videos that had been incredibly improved in terms of definition and stability through development of technologies. The core of the exhibition was converged contents made by 3D camera, OLED display, 4K, UHD digital TV, and projectors, centering the innovative and evolving technologies for the future broadcasting (Smart technology, UHD(Ultra High Definition) and 4K), all which were to be highlighted as Convergence Technology not just for the broadcasting industry. UHD 4K movie screen was set to allow people to enjoy seven movies taken by 4K camera including the trailer of 'After Earth.'
KBS, SBS, EBS and other domestic broadcasters attended this show to present the transition of broadcast service to IPTV, Smart TV, and other services, displaying the method of production with use of 4G LTE, 3G, WIFI, Wimax and other production control system.
Also, there were new categories for newly developed products such as Mobile, Smart Media, Display, LED and Contents. Broadcasting is a popular higher value-added business and differentiated competitiveness is necessary to be a success in the growing market. KOBA 2013 provided vision for the people in this next-generation growth industry.
KOBA World Forum was planned as Special Session for the conference to highlight the issues about foreign and domestic broadcasting market. Korea Association of Sound Artists prepared various programs to provide and share lots of information about sound technology.
Headphone & Personal Audio Festival (2013 HAF) was concurrently held at the Conference Center due to the public's increased interest towards premium audio receivers for Smartphone/pad and tablet PC.
