Weezer, ZZ Top, Shinedown, Ben Harper and Relentless7, Patti LaBelle, The B-52's, and The Charlie Daniels Band, Among National Acts to Perform at SunFest 2010

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- SunFest, Florida's largest music, art and waterfront festival, announces several national acts scheduled to appear at the 28th annual event being held April 28-May 2, along one of the most scenic sections of Flagler Drive in downtown West Palm Beach. National acts scheduled to perform include Weezer, ZZ Top, Shinedown, Ben Harper and Relentless7, Patti LaBelle, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Flaming Lips, Rise Against, B-52's, Damian Marley, Nas, Five For Fighting, Flogging Molly, Sister Hazel, Better than Ezra, Marcus Miller, Classic Albums Live, and The Charlie Daniels Band. Additional entertainment announcements will be made as they are confirmed.

Alternative Rock group Weezer will perform Opening Night, Wednesday evening April 28. The band is best known for their successful singles "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To, " "Buddy Holly," "Undone - The Sweater Song," "Island in the Sun," "Beverly Hills," "Say It Ain't So," and "Pork and Beans."
Blues-rock group ZZ Top will perform Thursday evening, April 29. This hard-guitar-sounding blues group has been together and playing for almost 40 years and in 2004 the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band's hit list includes "Rough Boy," "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Cheap Sunglasses," "Sharp-Dressed Man" and "Legs."
Flaming Lips will perform Thursday evening, April 29. The band is known for their albums Transmissions from the Satellite Heart, The Soft Bulletin and Embryonicadical. According to Rolling Stone Magazine: "...rock has produced few stranger or more daring bands in the last 20 years than Oklahoma City's Flaming Lips, who embrace everything from merry prankster psychedelia to orchestral pop."
Maze featuring Frankie Beverly will perform Friday evening, April 30. They are internationally renowned musical artists, known for their soulful and mellow jazz sound. The musicians have been performing together since 1977 when the group released its first of a string of nonstop gold albums, the self-titled Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. Other gold albums include Inspiration, Joy in Pain, and Back to Basics. The group has racked up 24 Top 40 singles. Favorite hits include "Happy Feelings," "We Are One" and "Can't Get Over You."
Patti LaBelle will perform Friday evening, April 30. As an R&B and Soul singer, Patti has been the main singer for the Bluebelles and Labelle. When singing with Labelle, her breakthrough song "Lady Marmalade" made it to the #1 spot on the charts. She then went on to a solo act and has come out with hits including "On My Own," "If you Only Knew," and "I'm in Love Again."
Punk rockers Rise Against will perform Saturday afternoon, May 1. The group hails from Chicago and their albums include Appeal to Reason, The Sufferer & the Witness, and Siren Song of the Counter Culture. They are known for their many singles including "Re-Education (Through Labor)," "Audience of One," and "Savior," "Swing Life Away," "Prayer of the Refugee" and "The Good Left Undone."
Florida-based Sister Hazel will perform Saturday afternoon, May 1. The band has sold more than two million records in their decade plus of music-making, with six top 30 singles including "All For You" and "Change Your Mind."
Better than Ezra will perform Saturday afternoon, May 1. The alternative rock trio is known for breaking on the scene with the success of the hit single "Good." Other popular singles include "King of New Orleans," "Desperately Wanting," "At the Stars," "Extra Ordinary" and "Juicy." The group's albums include Deluxe, Friction, Baby, Closer and Paper Empire.
Classic Albums Live will perform Saturday afternoon, May 1. This Canadian classic rock group performs music from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones and more. Featured albums at SunFest will be 40 years of Woodstock.
Rock group Shinedown will perform Saturday evening, May 1. They have scored six consecutive top five rock radio hit singles, including "Save Me," "I Dare You," "Heroes," "Leave A Whisper," "Fly From Inside," "Burning Bright" and ".45."
The Charlie Daniels Band will perform Saturday evening, May 1. The band mixes a style of rock/country/bluegrass/blues/gospel and is perhaps best known for their hit song "Devil Went Down to Georgia," which won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal, and "Uneasy Rider".
Nas will perform Sunday afternoon, May 2. Nas is a prominent African-American rapper best known for his debut album Illmatic. Nas is one of hip-hop's most celebrated lyricists with his signature poetic style and storytelling abilities. His hit singles include "Hero," "Surviving the Times," "Less Than an Hour," "It Ain't Hard to Tell," "One Love" and "One Mic."
Damian Marley will perform Sunday afternoon, May 2. Marley is the son of reggae legend Bob Marley. In 2006 Marley became the first Jamaican reggae artist to win multiple Grammy Awards in one night. He won Best Reggae Album for his record Welcome to Jamrock, and Best Urban/Alternative Performance for the single "Welcome to Jamrock". His albums include Mr. Marley, Halfway Tree and Welcome to Jamrock.
Five for Fighting is the stage name of American singer-songwriter John Ondrasik who will be performing Sunday afternoon, May 2. Both his albums "America Town" and "The Battle for Everything" were certified platinum. Hits from those albums include "Superman (It's Not Easy)" and "100 years." Since then, he has had three additional albums released with singles including "The Riddle" and "Chances."
Marcus Miller will perform Sunday afternoon, May 2. He was born and raised in New York and is a musician, producer, and composer. He is famous for being a multi-instrumentalist including the bass guitar, clarinet, keyboard, and saxophone. He was a part of the Saturday Night Live Band and has toured with many people including Luther Vandross, Miles Davis, and Roberta Flack. Miller has also won many Grammy Awards as a professional producer.
The B-52's will perform Sunday evening, May 2. The group originated in Athens, Georgia. The timeless group is a positive, enthusiastic, slightly wacky party band,. Their hits include "Rock Lobster," "Girl from Ipanema Goes to Greenland," "Love Shack," and "Deadbeat Club."
Singer-songwriter and two-time Grammy Award winner Ben Harper will perform Sunday evening, May 2. Harper is known for his guitar-playing skills, vocals, and live performances. His hit singles include "Steal My Kisses," "With My Own Two Hands," "Diamonds On The Inside," "Brown Eyed Blues" and "Wicked Man." His gold albums include Fight for Your Mind, Burn to Shine and Live from Mars.
Flogging Molly will perform Sunday evening, May 2. The band was founded in Los Angeles by Dublin born singer/songwriter, Dave King. Flogging Molly got its start and its name from a local bar called Molly Malone's where the band played and laid down the blueprint for its eventual success. Their hits include "The Likes of You Again," "The Worst Day Since Yesterday," "Rebels of the Sacred Heart" and "Float."

Opening Night with Weezer and New Music Night
Wednesday's Opening Night will feature the popular band Weezer along with New Music talent. Between the social networking sites, web video sites and Internet radio stations, there are more outlets for music than ever. SunFest is looking for bands or artists they may not have heard of, that might not be signed to a major label (or any label at all), but are growing in popularity on personal .mp3 players. New Music Night has been a popular addition to the festival since it started three years ago.
