VINCI and NAESP Partner to Support Principals in Early Childhood Education
Collaboration will produce standards of practice and professional resources for principals serving grades pre-K through 3
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass., and ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and VINCI, home of award-winning VINCI Blended Learning curriculum and ClassVINCI, announced a multi-year partnership to further develop and promote effective leadership practice in early childhood education focused on improving instruction and learning in the earliest grades. This partnership will produce resources supporting effective leadership practice in pre-K to grade 3 (PK-3), including integrating blended learning and technology in the early years, and creating professional development to build the capacity of principals leading schools that serve children from age three to grade three.
NAESP and VINCI recognize the importance of high-quality early learning opportunities for all children and will work together to help build the capacity of principals in PK-3 education to close and ultimately prevent achievement gaps between students from disadvantaged households and their more affluent peers.
"We know that the skills and competencies learned at a very young age will have a direct and exponential effect on a child's future," said Dan Yang, creator of VINCI. "The best way to provide young students the foundation they need to be successful is to make sure that their teachers and principals are equipped with the knowledge, training and technology they need to deliver best-in-class education to our earliest learners. VINCI is proud to work with NAESP and to support the development and delivery of these resources."
NAESP and VINCI are also committed to establishing the evidence and best practices to help teachers and principals successfully incorporate blended learning and technology into their classrooms.
"Early childhood education is the single most important element of a successful learner's PK-12 experience, and a proven predictor of long-term student success. Providing a high-quality successful early learning opportunity must be the focus of every principal leading schools in the elementary grades," said NAESP Executive Director Gail Connelly.
"Together, NAESP and VINCI will offer principals the chance to improve expertise in early learning, and develop appropriate materials to support digital curriculum programs in PK-3 education. This expertise will help principals lead high-quality learning environments where every student will have the chance to succeed. NAESP is pleased to work with VINCI to build on the evidence of effective programs, and to further develop the knowledge and training for principals in the field," Connelly noted.
The updated standards of effective PK-3 practice in instructional leadership will be released during the NAESP annual conference in Nashville, Tennessee, July 10-12, 2014.
