Viña Concha y Toro is the only wine company in the world to integrate the Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2016

SANTIAGO, Chile, Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) is the most highly renowned international sustainability index, which evaluates environmental, social, economic and governance aspects of companies' performance in its different versions (global, by country, category or industry). Taking into account all these versions on a global level, only one wine company integrates the Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2016: Viña Concha y Toro.

This significant accomplishment was achieved thanks to the company's incorporation, for the second consecutive year, in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Chile (DJSI Chile) developed by the Santiago Stock Exchange and S&P Dow Jones Indices. The new ranking was recently released and is effective as of Monday, September 19.

This year, the company achieved a score of 65 points, 8 points higher than last year, which is even more significant when taking into account that the global average in the Beverages category fell from 53 to 50 points.  As such, Viña Concha y Toro was able to position itself within the top third of the category thanks to its significant progress in all areas which the index evaluates.

In the Economic dimension it increased from up to 60 points, while the average points in the category are 51. In the Social field, the company got 61, 18 points higher than the average for Beverages. Finally, in the Environmental dimension, Viña Concha y Toro's points were 75, 21 higher than the category average. It should also be noted that the company achieved 100 points in "Water Management", the maximum score.
