Stockholm Royal Seaport, a new eco-modeled district in the north-eastern part of the inner city of Stockholm, is one of several projects in which Fortum operates towards sustainable development. Fortum, together with ABB, KTH, and other partners will design and install a smart electricity grid in Stockholm Royal Seaport. The Energy Agency recently granted funding of approximately SEK 13.4 million for the research project's pre-study which will allow for functional specifications in a number of areas. Fortum is also involved in the sustainable mindset of the residents and how to encourage energy smart consumer behavior. This project phase will last for six months starting from October 2010. The Stockholm Royal Seaport project aims to cut CO2 emissions from the current average of 4 tonnes to 1.5 tonnes per person per year by 2020.
