Veterans and Elected Officials Celebrate Grand Opening of Vermont Villas

LOS ANGELES, Oct.15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Affirmed Housing and PATH Ventures are pleased to announce that they will celebrate the grand opening of Vermont Villas today, October 15, 2015 at 11:00am.  Speakers will include US Congresswoman Maxine Waters, California State Senator Isadore Hall, California State Assemblyman Mike Gipson, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas, First Lady of Los Angeles Amy Wakeland, Los Angeles City Councilmember Joe Buscaino, and Jimmie, a resident of Vermont Villas, who will offer a first-hand perspective on life as a homeless veteran. The New Directions Veterans Choir, as seen on America's Got Talent, will open and close the ceremony.

Located at 16304 S. Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles, Vermont Villas serves chronically homeless veterans and homeless individuals with critical health needs. Substantial resident services are provided, including health and service resources to help these individuals live healthy, productive lives. 

The four-story Vermont Villas features 79 studio and one-bedroom apartments, common gathering spaces for residents, and offices for staff. Common spaces include a teaching kitchen, a large courtyard with barbecues and resident vegetable gardens, a lounge, and meeting rooms. Other amenities include on-site property management, offices for five on-site staff, who will provide supportive services for the residents, secured access, and laundry rooms.
