Veteran Health Care Leader Named Kaiser Permanente Chief Nurse Executive

Knodel is a nationally recognized nursing leader with decades of experience and expertise in leadership across inpatient, ambulatory and continuum-of-care settings. She is a past president of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, and is the 2016 recipient of American College of Healthcare Executives Gold Medal Award in the category of health care delivery organization. The award recognizes outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to the health care profession.

Most recently, Knodel served as senior vice president and chief nursing officer for Mercy Health System, a large Catholic health care system that includes 45 hospitals, 16,000 nurses, 40,000 co-workers, and 2,000 integrated-care physicians, serving residents in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Previously, she was vice president and chief nursing officer at Mercy Springfield Communities in Springfield, Missouri, and senior vice president and chief nursing officer at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, North Dakota.
