Ventiv Technology's chief information security officer now reports to CEO
Reflects critical importance of data security
CHICAGO, Nov. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ventiv Technology (formerly Aon eSolutions) announced today that the role of chief information security officer (CISO) has been elevated to direct-report status to Ventiv's chief executive officer. David Black, Ventiv's CISO since 2009, will now report directly to Kathy Burns, Ventiv's CEO. Mr. Black will also join Ventiv's Executive Committee. Of note, Ventiv Technology is the only software provider in the risk, insurance and safety market with a CISO.
This change in reporting structure reflects three significant developments in the area of information security, both at Ventiv and within the risk, insurance and safety community:
- Data security, privacy and compliance are increasingly important considerations for Ventiv clients as well as for the risk, insurance and safety market at large;
- Now more than ever, information security at Ventiv and other forward-thinking organizations spans the entire business and applies to processes, policies and procedures once considered to be outside the scope of traditional information-technology department responsibilities; and
- As the cloud has become the dominant method of delivering business solutions, mitigating risks to sensitive data has become a very public and pressing concern. Elevating the role of CISO is further proof of Ventiv's commitment to incorporating data security into all aspects of its business, from strategic planning to day-to-day operations, to the benefit of its clients.
Mr. Black has been instrumental in leading Ventiv to its industry-leading position on data security and privacy. Foremost among his achievements is the launch in 2012 of the RIScloud® customer data centers. RIScloud is the risk, insurance and safety market's only technology infrastructure certified by third-party audits to be compliant in its entirety with ISO 27001:2005 and URAC HIPAA Security standards. RIScloud is also the market's only technology infrastructure that is fully owned, staffed and managed by a provider of business-technology-solutions to this market.
Mr. Black has also led Ventiv's highly successful initiatives that have resulted in the market's leading set of third-party, audit-based accreditations of data security and privacy for the environments that host all of Ventiv's solutions and data for its clients. In March 2014, Ventiv attained certification of ISO 27001:2005 compliance by BSI Group, an independent provider of management systems assessment and certification. In 2012, Ventiv earned URAC HIPAA Security for Business Associate and Covered Entity accreditation.
Said Ventiv CEO Kathy Burns: "Through RIScloud, Ventiv Technology hosts its applications and client data with an unequalled level of security, transparency and accountability. By elevating David Black and the CISO role within Ventiv Technology, we are demonstrating our continuing commitment to robust security and regulatory frameworks and standards in servicing our growing global customer base."
Said Ventiv CISO David Black: "For companies concerned about data privacy, security, compliance and availability, the Ventiv Technology hosted business-solutions environment—RIScloud—sets the industry standard. Our unmatched third-party accreditations cover the entirety of Ventiv's technology infrastructure as well as all applicable business processes, policies and procedures. When it comes to mitigating the risk to the data entrusted to their care, the best protection for any organization is selecting providers of third-party, cloud-based software solutions who are most committed to proving the strength of their technology infrastructure, business processes and policies. Elevating the role of CISO within Ventiv is further proof of our commitment to accountability and transparency."
