CHANTILLY, Va., Nov. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Vencore Inc. today announced it has renewed its accreditation to evaluate cloud-based solutions for federal government agencies as a Federal Risk Authorization and Management Program (FedRAMPSM) Third Party Assessment Organization (3PAO). The FedRAMP program was established by the General Services Administration (GSA) to establish a universal framework for federal cloud-based solutions.
In order to maintain its 3PAO status, Vencore underwent a rigorous audit conducted by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) to verify the company's technical compliance to FedRAMP requirements. Successful completion of the requirements was acknowledged via A2LA certificate number 3825.01. A2LA is an independent accreditation body that performs competency and independence assessments of 3PAOs as part of the FedRAMP program.
"We are proud to be among the few federal contractors accredited as a FedRAMP Third Party Assessment Organization," said Mac Curtis, president and chief executive officer of Vencore. "As the federal government and commercial customers accelerate the adoption of cloud services, security and data privacy are critically important. We look forward to ensuring confidence that our customers are adopting cloud services that are trustworthy, safe and reliable."
FedRAMP is a government-wide program that provides a standardized, cost-effective approach for the federal government to adopt and use cloud services from commercial providers. In order for a federal agency to adopt a commercial cloud-based solution, GSA requires that an accredited 3PAO perform an independent assessment, which is evaluated by the FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board before cloud offerings can be implemented in a federal environment.
Vencore received the original accreditation to become a FedRAMP 3PAO in June 2013.
