Vencore Awarded James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award
CHANTILLY, Va., May 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Vencore, Inc. announced today it was awarded the 2015 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award for its facility located in Cleveland, Ohio. The Cogswell Award is the highest honor the Defense Security Service (DSS) presents to cleared industry partners. Stan Sims, director of DSS, will present this year's awards at the 51st Annual NCMS Society of Industrial Security Professionals' National Seminar on May 24 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Established in 1966, the Cogswell Award represents the need for a true partnership between industry and government to ensure the protection of the nation's classified assets. In order to receive consideration for the award, contractors must meet a difficult set of criteria established by the DSS. The criteria include building and maintaining a security program that exceeds the National Industrial Security Program requirements and providing leadership to other cleared facilities to establish best practices while setting the highest standards for security.
"This award is given to a select few who have a proven track record of excellence in maintaining a top notch, comprehensive security program at their facility," said Mac Curtis, president and CEO of Vencore, Inc. "With less than one percent of all cleared contractors being selected annually, I could not be more proud of the Cleveland team and our organization on this achievement, and would like to congratulate our fellow recipients on a job well done."
A facility must be nominated by their assigned Industrial Security Representative, and have two consecutive annual superior industrial security review ratings. Vencore's Cleveland facility has received four consecutive superior security ratings.
The pool of nominees goes through an intense vetting process with multiple external agencies before ultimately being sent to a national review team. This team consolidates and ranks the nominations based on the following rigorous criteria: overall security program; senior management support; security vulnerability assessments; security education and awareness; level of experience of facility security officer and security staff; and classified material controls. Those rankings are then sent to the director of the DSS for final approval.
