VASCO Launches DIGIPASS 831: Its Most Popular Smart Card Reader Now With Replaceable Batteries and a New Design With a Larger Display
OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. and ZURICH, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI; www.vasco.com), a leading software security company specializing in strong authentication products, launches DIGIPASS 831, a new edition of its most popular smart card reader now with replaceable batteries, a larger display (25% bigger) and an improved user-interface. With DIGIPASS 831, VASCO meets the need of banks who want to comply with new ecological policies and regulations to reduce their ecological footprint. DIGIPASS 831 will be available as from the first quarter of 2011.
DIGIPASS 831 combines smart card reader functions, such as one-time password (OTP) and electronic signature with EMV-CAP and Advanced Authentication for Chip compliance. DIGIPASS 831 has a new and user-friendly design. DIGIPASS 831 allows the use of large and alphanumeric character sets which use the full size of the screen to display the OTP or e-signature. This magnifying feature contributes to enhanced user-friendliness, which is helpful for elderly people, since electronic banking is extremely popular with them. The batteries can also easily be replaced by the end-user. Furthermore, DIGIPASS 831 can easily be integrated into a 3D-Secure architecture, allowing end-users to use their bank card for online payment while shopping online in a secure way.
For banks, DIGIPASS 831 offers a convenient solution to transition their retail channels to strong authentication, since they are able to leverage their existing investments in the EMV infrastructure. The replaceable batteries help them reduce ecological footprint. Furthermore, DIGIPASS 831 is platform-independent which facilitates the roll-out to vast numbers of end-users. The DIGIPASS 831 becomes only personalized when the bank card is inserted and when the end-user enters his PIN.
DIGIPASS 831 is fully interoperable with all members of the DIGIPASS family; it works seamlessly together with VASCO's VACMAN core authentication technology and IDENTIKEY. DIGIPASS 831 can also be delivered with a sealed battery location.
"Hacking techniques become more and more sophisticated. Banks are increasingly moving to e-signature to protect online transactions. Furthermore they are also concerned about usability and increasingly about their ecological footprint. DIGIPASS 831 responds to all these concerns," says Jan Valcke, President and COO at VASCO Data Security.
