(NASDAQ: USMD), a physician-led integrated healthcare system, announced today that Laurie Lewis has joined USMD Hospital at Arlington as chief nursing officer. As chief nursing officer, Laurie is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the overall operation of nursing services at USMD Hospital at Arlington, including perioperative services, inpatient and surgical intensive care and the emergency department. Laurie is also responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all patients at USMD Hospital at Arlington.

Prior to the addition of Laurie, Marcia Crim served as chief nursing officer in addition to her role as CEO. However, the growing patient base as well as the ongoing hospital expansion and planned future expansion necessitated additional management at the hospital.
An experienced healthcare executive, Laurie has more than 22 years of clinical experience as well as 10 years of experience in progressive nursing leadership roles. Prior to joining USMD, Laurie served as vice president of clinical and quality services at Acuity Healthcare in Dallas. During her time there, she oversaw all clinical operations in eight hospitals as well as the nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation, respiratory, quality and education departments of the organization. Her past tenure also includes positions at Kindred Healthcare and St. Paul and Zale Lipshy University Hospitals at UT Southwestern.
Laurie holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from Midwestern State University Wichita Falls as well as a master's degree in nursing administration and a master's degree in healthcare administration from University of Texas at Arlington. In addition, she is a board certified nurse executive advanced and a certified professional in healthcare quality.
