SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to destruction in the Philippines caused by Typhoon Bopha, the USANA True Health Foundation (NYSE: USNA) today announced a $10,000 donation to aid victims of the disaster through the International Relief Teams (IRT). This is the second USANA True Health Foundation donation this year that has gone to support relief efforts in the Philippines.

"There are so many hands reaching out for help following this devastating storm," said USANA True Health Foundation President Elaine Pace. "We're relieved that USANA can be one of those hands that offers support. This is one of many reasons why we created this charity."
More than 180,000 people were left homeless after Typhoon Bopha, which brought heavy rains and winds of up to 110 mph across the large southern island of Mindanao. Local rescue crews are working now to overcome washed-out roads, bridges and downed power lines.
"In this early stage, it's difficult to know specifically what our donation is going to be used for," said USANA True Health Foundation board member and USANA Vice President Jim Bramble. "Whether it be food, water purification tablets or shelter, the point is that it doesn't really matter. The International Relief Team is an extraordinary organization to team up with, and I have no doubt our donation and resources will bring help to where it's needed the most."
