U.S. Department of Labor Goes Live with GCE's Cloud Computing Based Financial Management Solution
Cabinet-Level Department Implements Agency-Wide Solution from Commercial Shared Service Provider
RESTON, Va., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Global Computer Enterprises (GCE) today announced that the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has gone live with GCE's cloud computing based financial management Shared Service Provider (SSP) solution. The event marks the first implementation of a cabinet-level department onto a commercial SSP solution based on Oracle Financials Release 12. GCE was able to deliver a comprehensive solution and get thousands of employees and more than 22 agencies and organizations ready for use in just 18 months.
With this new solution, the agency's first financial management solution overhaul in over 20 years, DOL achieves its goal of modernizing its core financial management functions within the framework of a FSIO-compliant financial management Shared Service Provider (SSP). DOL expects to drive major operational efficiencies, on-going compliance with OMB and Treasury guidelines, and greater insight and reporting of spending. And, because the solution is cloud based, DOL had to make no hardware or software investments.
"The era of wasting millions of dollars building financial management solutions from scratch that don't work in the government is over," said Ray Muslimani, GCE CEO. "As the new administration pushes for accountability and utilizing technology to drive operational efficiencies, GCE's ability to deliver a cloud-based, agency-wide solution is a testament to a new model in delivering enterprise-class solutions into the government."
GCE's Federal financial solution, known as the SSP Appliance, delivers customers a pre-configured, pre-integrated Oracle Federal Financials-based solution coupled with a full range of services from data migration and testing through security, change management and training. By starting with a pre-built solution, DOL was able to save considerable time, money and risk, as well as being able to begin introducing change to the users on day one.
"In only 18 months our team delivered a comprehensive financial management solution – a victory that few in this industry can claim," said David Winslow, GCE's Program Manager. "It took not only the dedication and knowledge of a team of GCE employees and industry partners, but also the commitment from the DOL project team and senior leadership to drive this implementation to success. This launch is a testament to the strength of the relationship of GCE with our team of partners and with our customer."
"The cloud computing model is one that we and our customer at DOL have embraced to drive major efficiencies," added David Lucas, Chief Strategy Officer, GCE. "Agencies can focus on their core mission-challenges and do not have to invest in hardware, software, and staff to run massive technology solutions. GCE and DOL have set a high standard for other Federal entities looking to modernize their financial management system and drive good government."
