SATURDAY, JANUARY 29: BIG RAILROAD HOBBY SHOW

Profile America -- Saturday, January 29th.  Toys come and go in popularity.  One toy, however, has maintained its desirability for many decades with youngsters -- and those who still act like youngsters -- the model train.  Some families set up a model train to run around the base of their Christmas tree each year, while others maintain extensive layouts.  This weekend, the Amherst Railway Society Railroad Hobby Show will draw some 25,000 fans to West Springfield, Massachusetts, to see nearly 8-1/2 acres of displays and railroad memorabilia, including 40 operating model layouts .  Model trains can be found at many of the nation's more than 30,000 hobby, toy, and game stores.  You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau, online at www.census.gov.
