SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 6: SUPER BOWL
Profile America -- Sunday, February 6th. Football fans all over the country will be joining friends in their homes or meeting them in sports bars today to watch Super Bowl XLV (45), this year at the new Cowboys stadium in Arlington, Texas. The annual game to determine the professional football championship has come a long way since it was first played in 1967, when the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 35 to 10. The event has taken on a life of its own, with celebrity half- time ceremonies and the unveiling of new commercials on television rivaling interest in the game itself. National broadcast and cable television carries nearly $34 billion worth of advertising each year with another $17 billion of commercials on local television and cable channels. Profile America is in its 14th year as a public service of the U.S. Census Bureau.
