U.S. Anesthesia Partners Expands into the Denver Market by Partnering with Greater Colorado Anesthesia
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Anesthesia Partners ("USAP"), the nation's largest anesthesia-focused, single-specialty physician services organization, today announced its partnership with Greater Colorado Anesthesia.
Denver-based Greater Colorado Anesthesia ("GCA") joins Greater Houston Anesthesiology (Houston, TX), Pinnacle Partners in Medicine (Dallas, TX), and JLR Medical Group (Orlando, FL) as USAP continues its strategy of partnering with preeminent anesthesia groups in attractive markets across the country. Since its formation at the end of 2012, USAP has grown to over 1,500 anesthesia providers, including its recently-announced partnership with Anesthesia Consultants of Dallas (ACD).
"Partnering with USAP is a unique and fortunate opportunity for GCA. As we move into the next era of healthcare in the Denver market, we are looking to invest in data-driven quality analysis, administrative resources, information technology and other initiatives to improve the care and value that we deliver to our patients and customers," said Dr. Peter Harkness, President of GCA. "USAP's resources and the opportunity to collaborate with such a highly-regarded partnership of clinicians in other major markets will provide GCA with the tools necessary to meet the increasing quality and affordability demands of the patients, hospital systems, and payers that we serve in our community."
GCA is the largest provider of anesthesia services in the Denver metropolitan area with 122 providers serving more than 20 facilities, including exclusive relationships with three of the region's premier general acute care hospitals.
"Entering the Colorado market through our partnership with GCA is consistent with how we execute our growth strategy. We identify the most attractive geographies and establish a presence within them by partnering with leading groups of anesthesiologists," said Kris Bratberg, President and CEO of USAP. "The GCA physicians' interest in joining USAP reinforces that high-quality physicians and leading practices are aligned with USAP's partnership approach to anesthesia. Our physician partners see opportunities to grow their practices by leveraging the business acumen, administrative services, and capital investments that we provide. Our physician partners in Texas and Florida look forward to collaborating with their new partners in Colorado, and to sharing best practices to enhance the level of service to our patients."
"We continue to see significant interest from market-leading anesthesia groups like GCA in USAP's partnership model. Our model allows our physician partners to maintain governance of their practice and benefit from our collaborative efforts to drive growth," said Michael Holland, Chief Development Officer of USAP. "We are pleased to partner with GCA's strong physician leadership to build the nation's preeminent pure-play anesthesia services organization."
Anthony Norris and Jarrett Szeftel of Ropes & Gray LLP provided legal counsel to USAP. Eric Klein and Jeralin Cardoso of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP provided legal counsel to GCA. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
