SDA joins Greater Colorado Anesthesia ("GCA"), which partnered with USAP in February of 2015, forming an integrated presence to better serve the Denver community. Combined, the practice will be comprised of over 230 anesthesia providers serving more than 35 facilities across the Denver metropolitan area.
"Our partnership with SDA allows us to bring together the two leading anesthesia groups in this market, creating one integrated practice. By sharing resources across a larger group, the Denver community will receive higher quality and more efficient anesthesia services. The physician leaders of SDA and GCA have demonstrated an impressive commitment to continuous quality improvement that formed the foundation of this new partnership," said Kris Bratberg, CEO of USAP.
Since its formation in 2012, USAP has grown to nearly 2,000 anesthesia providers. It has maintained a disciplined approach to its growth by targeting attractive geographic markets and entering them only by partnering with the leading quality groups of anesthesia providers serving those markets. It has done so in Houston (Greater Houston Anesthesiology), Dallas (Pinnacle Partners in Medicine), Central Florida (JLR Medical Group) and Denver (GCA and SDA). Its unique partnership model empowers USAP's physicians to share clinical and practice support expertise and resources, positioning them to better serve their communities and enjoy long-term success.
"We are excited to partner with GCA and USAP. It is a unique opportunity to collaborate with the highly regarded network of anesthesiologists and business leaders USAP has brought together, both locally here in Denver and nationally," said Matt Maloney, MD President, South Denver Anesthesiologists. "The vast resources of USAP and the focus on continuous clinical quality measurement, data-driven quality analysis, centralized administrative resources and innovative healthcare information technology will further enrich the value that we deliver to our patients, surgeons and healthcare facility customers every day."
"We are excited about the opportunity of an SDA-GCA partnership, and we are eager to begin collaborating with their top-quality medical staff," said Dr. Peter Harkness, Chairman of GCA's Clinical Governance Board. "There is no doubt that USAP has put us, collectively as a group of physicians in the Denver market, in a better position to serve our customers and succeed in the new era of healthcare."
The USAP strategy of uniting leading anesthesiology groups and supporting them with business expertise, technology solutions, and other resources enables clinicians to share best practices and drive consistent delivery of measurable, high-quality care. USAP's outlook for continued growth remains strong as its unique partnership model continues to attract high quality groups across the country.
Anthony Norris, Jarrett Szeftel and Catherine Riley of Ropes & Gray LLP provided legal counsel to USAP. Eric Klein and Jeralin Cardoso of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP provided legal counsel to SDA. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
