U.S. Ambassador to Abu Dhabi to Visit Kansas City

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The current United States Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates ("U.A.E."), Richard G. Olson, is scheduled to visit the Kansas City area on Thursday, May 6, 2010.  Ambassador Olson will host a roundtable discussion to explore opportunities for U.S. companies in the U.A.E.'s growing rail infrastructure sector at the Kaufman Foundation on the afternoon of May 6th and then proceed to a private dinner on the Plaza in Kansas City later in the evening.  The dinner is co-sponsored by the Herzog Contracting Corp. of St. Joseph, Missouri, Black & Veatch of Overland Park, Kansas, the International Trade Council of Greater Kansas City, and Capistrano Global Advisory Services ("CGA") of Overland Park, Kansas.

Based at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Ambassador Olson is presently in the United States promoting trade and economic relations between the U.S. and the Emirates.  He is also accompanying a high-level oil and gas delegation from the U.A.E. to the Offshore Technology Conference ("OTC") in Houston, Texas. 

Ambassador Olson presented his credentials to his Highness Shaykh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on October 14, 2008.  He is a career foreign service officer and a member of the senior foreign service, having most recently served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the United States Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) from 2006-2008. Mr. Olson has been awarded the Secretary of Defense's Exceptional Civilian Service Award (for his service in Iraq), and the State Department's Superior Honor Award (three times).
