LAUREL, Md., Nov. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) just launched its newest community for medical professionals practicing Urologic Ultrasound.
Earlier this week the AIUM Board of Governors approved the petition, presented by AIUM members, to create the Urology Ultrasound Community.
"As the use of medical ultrasound continues to expand and grow, the AIUM is uniquely positioned to provide the necessary resources, education, and accreditation," said AIUM President, Brian D. Coley, MD, FAIUM. "We are excited to add this official community for Urologic Ultrasound."
While the AIUM has always represented those who practice Urologic Ultrasound, and has offered Urologic Ultrasound accreditation since 2013, having an official AIUM community gives Urologic Ultrasound practitioners an easier way to locate educational materials, a dedicated web page, the ability to elect leaders, sessions at the AIUM Convention, and a dedicated members-only online community on Connect.
"Adding Urologic Ultrasound to AIUM's list of specialties allows us the ability to dedicate even more time and resources to this area," said AIUM CEO Glynis Harvey, CAE. "This means a growing library of training, resources, and information for physicians, sonographers, students, and others practicing Urologic Ultrasound."
The AIUM Urologic Ultrasound Community will be electing its first leaders during AIUM's upcoming elections.
The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) is a multidisciplinary medical association of nearly 10,000 physicians, sonographers, scientists, students, and other health care providers. It is dedicated to advancing the safe and effective use of ultrasound in medicine. For more information visit www.aium.org.
