Upstate New York Laboratory Robotics Interest Group (LRIG) to Host Free Symposium and Exhibition
Bringing Together Experts in Biotechnology, Engineering, Robotics, and the Life Sciences
RENSSELAER, N.Y., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Upstate New York Laboratory Robotics Interest Group (LRIG) and the Hudson Mohawk Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) will be hosting a free symposium and exhibition on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 entitled "Unconventional High-Throughput Applications," featuring Pankaj Karande, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Seth Cohen, Ph.D., Senior Director Microfluidics Applications, Caliper Life Sciences. Dr. Karande will be speaking on the "Use of 3D Free Form Fabrication for the Design of Living Tissues" and Dr. Cohen will be speaking on the "Evolution of a Robot Scientist." The event is sponsored by BioTek, Thermo Scientific, Beckman Coulter, Caliper Life Sciences, Hamilton Robotics, HighRes Biosolutions, Tecan, Lonza Walkersville, Inc, Greiner Bio-One, Molecular Devices, Seahorse BioScience, Hudson Robotics, Inc., PerkinElmer, Intellicyt and Agilent Technologies, all of whom will be exhibiting at the symposium. The symposium and exhibition will take place in the George Education Center in the SUNY East Campus, 1 University Place, Rensselaer, NY from 4:00 to 7:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
The LRIG is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization with autonomous but closely affiliated chapters located worldwide. Its primary activity is to organize free symposia for its membership on a broad array of topics in laboratory automation that includes robotics.
LRIG Membership consists of scientists, researchers and engineers drawn from the New York State Wadsworth Labs, the State Police Forensic Investigation Center, other non-profit research organizations, Albany Molecular Research, Inc., small pharmaceutical companies, academic research institutions, small biotech firms, large companies and others in the region. The Upstate New York LRIG provides dinner and refreshments free of charge and does not charge for attendance.
