Thousands to Demand Immigration Enforcement and End to Sanctuary Policies
OMAHA, Neb., Sept. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Thousands of citizens from across the Midwest are expected to join with national and local political figures in a "Vigil for Justice" in Omaha, Nebraska, on Friday, September 13. Organized in part by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the event will help support American citizens who have been victimized by government policies that protect illegal aliens. Protestors will demand an end to lax federal enforcement of immigration laws, as well as state and local sanctuary policies that shield illegal aliens from detection and removal.

The Omaha rally is timed to coincide with a pre-trial hearing for Sergio Martinez-Perez, a 19-year-old illegal alien who is charged with the brutal rape and murder of Louise Sollowin, a 93-year-old Omaha resident in July.
"Louise Sollowin is a tragic reminder of why we have immigration laws and why those laws need to be enforced by the federal government and reinforced by local authorities," said Doug Kagan, president of Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom. "Instead, we have an administration in Washington that is providing de facto amnesty for people like Martinez-Perez, and local governments in Nebraska and across the country providing sanctuary to illegal aliens. Most illegal aliens are not violent criminals, but the policies being carried out by the Obama administration and sanctuary cities make it possible for dangerous criminals to prey upon innocent citizens, and that must stop."
The "Vigil for Justice" will demand action by the Nebraska Legislature to enact legislation barring local sanctuary policies across the state. "We are calling the legislation we are seeking 'Louise's Law,' because American citizens deserve justice and protection by their government from those who violate our immigration laws," Kagan concluded.
