BETHESDA, Md., March 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In an effort to reach media that targets hard-to-reach minority populations, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is hosting a 'pen & pad' briefing at their headquarters in Bethesda, Md., and simultaneously broadcasting a webinar on a new minority outreach campaign.

CPSC is aware of disparities in minority death and injury statistics associated with consumer products. CPSC has launched a minority outreach initiative targeting Hispanic, African-American, Native American and Asian populations with vital safety information.
Attendees will be greeted by Chairman Inez Tenenbaum and will hear a brief presentation on planned activities and will be able to ask questions and network with CPSC's team leading this initiative. CPSC is looking to hear from the media what safety issues are most pressing to their news organization and viewers, and CPSC is looking to use its communications tools -- an in-house TV studio, social networking, product samples, safety videos, translated materials, and PSAs -- to distribute life saving information to the public.
