UOL Announces 4Q09 and 2009 Results
Advertising and other revenues increased 59%, Broadband subscriber base grew 11% and EBITDA expanded by 215%
SAO PAULO, March 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- UOL S.A. (Bovespa: UOLL4), the leading online media portal and Internet company in Brazil, announces today 4Q09 and 2009 results.
Highlights
- Advertising and other revenues totaled R$140.7 million in 4Q09 and R$440.1 million in 2009, increasing by 59% and 55% over 4Q08 and 2008.
- EBITDA totaled R$75.7 million in 4Q09, 215% higher than in 4Q08, accompanied by EBITDA margin of 33%, 17 p.p. up on the same period last year. Excluding the impacts of the non-recurring items in both periods, EBITDA grew by 118% over 4Q08.
- EBITDA in 2009 totaled R$185.2 million, 50% higher than in 2008. EBITDA margin was 25%, 4 p.p. up on the prior year. Excluding the impacts of the non-recurring items in both periods, EBITDA grew by 21% over 2008.
- Gross margin stood at 75% in the quarter, 13 p.p. up on 4Q08. Gross profit in 2009 came to R$514.1 million.
- In 4Q09, net income was R$56.2 million, 168% up year-on-year. In 2009, net income was R$137.0 million, 42% up on 2008. Excluding non-recurring items in the period, net income increased by 5% from 2008.
- The number of paying broadband subscribers reached 1.33 million in December 2009, an increase of 11% over December 2008.
