United Technologies has been the top sponsor of this event since it began in 2005, reflecting the corporation's dedication to China's campaign for energy-efficient buildings and reduced emissions. This year, United Technologies is ready to extend its commitment by signing an important memorandum of understanding with China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) for future cooperation.
Under the agreement, which is scheduled for signing later in the conference, United Technologies and MOHURD will cooperate on promoting green building science and technology, conserving energy through demonstrations and pilot projects, supporting the conference and expo in future years, and encouraging eco-city development.
Also at the conference, Sandy Diehl, UTC Vice President of Integrated Building Solutions, delivered a keynote speech highlighting how technology can reduce energy waste in buildings and improve sustainable performance.
At this year's Expo, United Technologies companies are highlighting a wide range of industry-leading technologies, including Otis' Gen2 elevators with Regen drives, UTC Fire & Security's Marioff HI-FOG water mist fire protection system, and WebCTRL® building automation technology from Carrier's Automated Logic business.
"Making all the right connections" – the theme of UTC's Expo exhibit – emphasizes the efficiencies that can be attained when multiple building systems are integrated. Sustainable design services provided by Carrier help customers build or refit buildings to make them safer, more comfortable and more efficient.
United Technologies, based in Hartford, Connecticut, USA, is a diversified company providing high technology products and services to the global aerospace and building industries. UTC's products include Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines, Sikorsky helicopters, Carrier heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, Hamilton Sundstrand aerospace systems and industrial products, Otis elevators and escalators, UTC Fire & Security systems and UTC Power fuel cells.
