Unisys Selected to Provide Cybersecurity Services to Empresas Publicas de Medellin in Colombia
Under extended contract, Unisys will monitor, detect and manage vulnerabilities for more than 2,000 devices
BOGOTA, Colombia, Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced that Empresas Publicas de Medellin (EPM) has renewed its contract with Unisys' subsidiary in Colombia for information security and event management services for the company's Colombia operations. The renewed contract with EPM, a public utilities company owned by the municipality of Medellin, extends Unisys' work for one year.
EPM serves over 4 million citizens in Colombia and has presence in Chile, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Panama.
Unisys has been providing cybersecurity services to EPM in Colombia since 2014, including event and device management, as well as identification, classification and remediation of security incidents. To perform this work successfully, Unisys leverages its lauded security operations centers, its BeATo™ benchmark assessment tool and its Unisys Noise Cancellation Advanced Analytics Platform (UNCAAP™) to efficiently monitor and correlate over 140 million security events on a daily basis across EPM.
"We had to boost our security to keep unauthorized people from accessing information of the thousands of operations that run every day across our IT infrastructure. We found that Unisys provides the set of solutions that meet our needs," stated Antonio Perez, IT infrastructure services director of EPM. "We decided to start by protecting our most critical devices, and now we want to proceed with our efforts more broadly."
After implementing the information security services, event management and devices management, as well as identification, classification and remediation of exploits, EPM decided to extend the contract with Unisys to add new advanced solutions. This new contract involves more than 2,000 devices, firewalls, servers and applications.
"At Unisys, we are committed to providing the best security strategies and solutions to EPM. The results we have achieved to date have led to the extension of our relationship with EPM, and we will continue to leverage advanced technologies and services to achieve even higher levels of performance," stated Carlos Ferrer, vice president and general manager, Unisys Enterprise Solutions for Central, Southern and Andean Latin America.
