Unisys Awarded Contract to Support IRS Mission-Critical Computing Systems
Under Enterprise Computing Center Support contract, Unisys will continue to support and maintain agency's computing environment for processing U.S. taxpayer information
BLUE BELL, Pa., Feb. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced today that it has been awarded the Enterprise Computing Center Support (ECCS) contract from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to continue support of the agency's mission-critical computer environment.
Under this single-award indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract, the IRS can award Unisys task orders to provide support and maintenance services for the IRS computing environment, including Unisys ClearPath Dorado servers. These systems and others in the IRS tier-one computing environment support all of the agency's mission-critical functions such as processing tax returns and maintaining taxpayer records.
The IDIQ contract has a one-year base period and nine one-year options, exercisable at the discretion of the government, with a ceiling value of $650 million over 10 years if all options are exercised.
All work on this contract will be performed under task orders. The first task order awarded so far to Unisys under the contract is firm-fixed-price and has a one-year base period and nine one-year options, exercisable at the discretion of the government. The value of the contract's base period is approximately $14.6 million. The value of each option year increases incrementally over the previous year, and the total task order value is approximately $186.7 million if all options are exercised.
Unisys performed similar work for more than a decade under the predecessor Service Center Support System contract. Under that contract, Unisys supported the IRS in maintaining a highly reliable, mission-critical computing environment and helped the agency consolidate and modernize its mission-critical processing operations.
"With this contract award, Unisys continues our work with the IRS to help the agency with its mission-critical computing operations," said Venkatapathi "PV" Puvvada, group vice president, civilian agencies, Unisys Federal Systems. "We look forward to working with the IRS to provide secure and efficient service in support of U.S. taxpayers."

Forward-Looking Statements
Any statements contained in this release that are not historical facts are forward-looking statements as defined in the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995. All forward-looking statements rely on assumptions and are subject to various risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially from expectations. In particular, the ceiling value of the contract stated in this release is not guaranteed because IDIQ contracts do not require the government to award any amount of work. Additionally statements in this release regarding the total value of the awarded task order are based on the assumption that the IRS will exercise all option years and the base year and each option year will continue for its full term. Because agreements with government agencies are terminable before the end of their terms and are subject to the availability of appropriated funds, there is no guarantee that each year of the task order will continue for its full term. Additional discussion of factors that could affect Unisys future results is contained in periodic filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
