Robert Swann was a co-founder of Alphamosaic (acquired by Broadcom) and Chairman of Green Parrot Pictures (acquired by Google). He says, "I am delighted to join the Undo board. Undo has developed a truly elegant product which greatly helps developers to debug complex software. As software systems become ever larger, easing the debugging task will become ever more important."
The company's commercial software development product, UndoDB, supports C and C++ for Linux on x86. UndoDB's live recording allows software developers to record their program's execution, and then "wind the tape" back and forth in real-time in order to get a clear picture of their running program. This takes much of the guesswork and trial-and-error out of fixing problems when their program doesn't work as they'd hoped (i.e. "debugging") and means that bugs that might otherwise have taken weeks to fix can now be fixed in minutes. According to recent Cambridge University research, the functionality known as reversible debugging and found in UndoDB, increases debugging productivity by 26% (https://www.jbs.cam.ac.uk/media/2013/research-by-cambridge-mbas-for-tech-firm-undo-finds-software-bugs-cost-the-industry-316-billion-a-year/).
UndoDB is already integrated into most developers' environments so they can use it immediately. The live recording functionality has memory and runtime performance many thousands of times better than alternatives, making it suitable for highly complex code. Customers include NASA, some of the world's largest banks and biggest electronic design automation (EDA) suppliers.
