UMC Selected as a DJSI Global Component for Eighth Consecutive Year
HSINCHU, Taiwan, Sept. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- United Microelectronics Corporation (NYSE: UMC; TWSE: 2303) ("UMC" or "The Company"), a leading global semiconductor foundry, today announced that Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) has selected UMC as a global component for the eighth consecutive year. UMC was listed for both the DJSI-World and DJSI-Emerging Markets indexes. DJSI-World 2015 evaluated approximately 2,500 global enterprises, with only 317 qualifying as global components. Only five semiconductor companies were selected worldwide, with only two listed for DJSI-Emerging Markets.
DJSI awarded UMC with perfect scores in Antitrust Policy, Product Quality and Recall Management, and high scores in multiple other categories. UMC's overall scores have continued to increase in recent years, illustrating the company's continued excellence in sustainable operations. This accomplishment sets a standard for leading global companies and is recognized by international investors.
