SALISBURY, Md., Dec. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul Moving & Storage of Salisbury at 1326 N. Salisbury Blvd. is now offering customers 234 outdoor drive-up storage units thanks to the recent acquisition of an abutting property.
U-Haul closed on the former Water Tower Self Storage facility at 1402 N. Salisbury Blvd. in June. The additional 13 buildings and 30,595 net rentable square feet make for a notable expansion with extended hours and electronic gate security access available for customer convenience.
The outdoor storage units complement a wide range of products and services offered at U-Haul Moving & Storage of Salisbury, including truck and trailer rentals, moving supplies, towing equipment and 324 climate-controlled indoor storage units. Customers will have access to U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers by 2016.
"Adding the drive-up storage is exciting – it gives us another avenue to serve more customers," said U-Haul Company of South Philadelphia president Dominic Catalano, who oversees the Salisbury region. "This is a booming city and the need for more storage is here."
The new property is currently undergoing renovations to the buildings' exteriors.
"The expansion has given us the ability to offer a different product altogether," store general manager Brenda Cox said. "Some customers prefer being able to drive up to the unit. Not only does it offer a smaller price point, but also the reputation that U-Haul brings to the storage community."
Salisbury, the largest city on Maryland's Eastern Shore, is only 29 miles west of Ocean City. The city's downtown area is being revitalized by the conversion of waterfront parking lots to condos, retail and commercial space to attract more businesses and residents.
The acquisition of the Salisbury abutting property was driven by U-Haul Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul® supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.
