TWO MEN AND A TRUCK(R) 'Movers for Moms' Collects Over 14,000 Gifts for Women in Michigan Shelters on Mother's Day
LANSING, Mich., May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® announced today that it has collected more than 14,000 essential items for women at 14 shelters across the state of Michigan this Mother's Day as part of its statewide program called "Movers for Moms."
Designed to provide simple treasures such as slippers, soaps and toiletries to women living in area shelters, "Movers for Moms" featured a partnership between the moving company's Michigan-based franchisees and schools across the state, including 17 of National Heritage Academies' charter schools and A School for the Mind and Body, a preschool in Clarkston.
Created in 2008 to make Mother's Day more enjoyable for those women forced to live in shelters, "Movers for Moms" has become an annual program operated by the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Michigan Co-op. Each year, the program continues to grow, with this year's total eclipsing last year's sum of approximately 6,000 items collected in Michigan and the introduction of "Movers for Moms" by TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchisees in Connecticut, New York and North Carolina.
The more than 14,000 items collected during this year's efforts will be distributed to the 14 recipient shelters, including the YWCA in Detroit, Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, based on the school and franchisee collections in those areas.
