Designation Reflects Presence of Fiber-Based, High-Speed Internet
MADISONVILLE, Ky., Dec. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of AT&T's continuing efforts to drive economic development and investment in Kentucky, representatives from AT&T, local leadership, and the Madisonville/Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation today announced that the Island Ford and Greater Madisonville Industrial Parks have been designated AT&T Fiber Ready.
"We thank AT&T for their foresight and investment in installing extensive fiber infrastructure in this community," said Madisonville Mayor David Jackson. "Having these capabilities gives our city a strategic advantage in retaining current industry and recruiting new operations to Madisonville."
The AT&T Fiber Ready designation helps economic development leaders more effectively position their communities for site selection by emphasizing the availability of high-speed, fiber-based services.
"Hopkins County is a great place to operate a business, raise a family, and have a great quality of life," said Hopkins County Judge Executive Donnie Carroll. "We thank AT&T for the collaboration, and look forward to telling this good news to clients across the country and around the world."
In today's world, connectivity is vital to employers and businesses of every type.
"We are thrilled with the continuing partnership with AT&T and this important designation," said Skip McGaw, Board Chairman of the Madisonville/Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation. "This is another exciting way to highlight our community to prospective new businesses."
AT&T has been deploying high-speed, fiber-optic infrastructure across the Commonwealth for years, and the AT&T Fiber Ready designation is a tool for economic development leaders to highlight the assets available in their facilities.
"I am proud to highlight these two important Industrial Parks as examples of the many places across Kentucky where AT&T's fiber infrastructure is in place and ready to help local businesses drive job creation," said Hood Harris, President of AT&T Kentucky. "Each and every day, our employees are turning our billions of dollars of investment into high-speed internet for consumers and businesses across Kentucky, and it's exciting for us to have the opportunity to provide yet another resource to our friends who are driving economic development in Madisonville and Hopkins County."
"Our elected officials at the state and local levels are constantly working to improve the environment for investment and job creation in Kentucky, and when you add the AT&T Fiber Ready designation to the benefits of this improved business environment, we are gaining some of the essential tools needed to attract high-quality jobs to the community," said James Bundren, Interim President, Madisonville/Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation.
"It truly has been remarkable to watch our economy grow and our communities succeed as we have worked with local leadership to improve the business environment in Kentucky, and it is always encouraging when the business community comes along side and provides a resource like the AT&T Fiber Ready designation to help emphasize the important infrastructure available in our communities," said State Senator C.B. Embry.
"The work that has been in done in Frankfort and here locally to improve our workforce, to open the doors to investment, and to strengthen our local economies is better positioning the Commonwealth to attract new jobs and investment," said State Representative Brent Yonts. "I am excited to learn of this new tool that our economic development leaders have in their tool belts to attract companies that are looking for a place to call home."
