"Engagement is about business outcomes, and much more. Our research clearly shows that engagement links to many aspects of wellbeing, including how people evaluate their overall lives and experience their days," says James K. Harter, Ph.D., Gallup's chief scientist of workplace management and well being and coauthor of 12: The Elements of Great Managing. "It is an honor to recognize these organizations that have vigorously worked to achieve very high levels of employee engagement, which means, even during difficult economic times, they are improving lives while they improve their organization's performance."
The Gallup Great Workplace Award is based on multiple criteria, including response rates, overall engagement levels, and evidence of engagement impact on performance. Gallup compares applicants' results across its renowned workplace research database composed of millions of work teams in more than 150 countries. A panel of workplace experts reviews each organization's portfolio, which includes quantitative and qualitative components.
Gallup will present the awards to the winning organizations at a sold out Gallup Summit 2010, which will take place April 27-29, 2010, in Omaha, Nebraska. During the summit, Gallup Great Workplace Award winners will present the best practices they applied to their workplaces and discuss the improved business results they achieved through building an engaged workforce.
