tvsdesign celebrates completion of College Football Hall of Fame
94,256-square-foot Atlanta facility expects more than 500,000 guests annually
ATLANTA, Aug. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlanta-based tvsdesign is celebrating the completion of the new College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta, for which it designed both the architecture and interiors. The award-winning $68.5 million facility will open August 23.
Atlanta Hall Management, the not-for-profit organization established to build and operate the Hall, chose tvsdesign to design the Hall of Fame as well as its headquarters offices. Launched in 1951 by the National Football Foundation, the Hall serves to immortalize the game's greatest players and coaches as positive role models for future generations. Hall officials estimate the new attraction will draw more than 500,000 visitors annually.
Perched on a custom-formed concrete "Y" column, the football-shaped rotunda sits atop the entrance, providing views into and out of the Hall. The attraction consists of multiple galleries, culminating with the Hall of Fame shrine on the third floor.
These galleries will include interactive exhibits that include a 52-foot touchscreen wall and an RFID-enabled, multi-touch system that allows fans to interact with videos and images specific to their favorite college football teams. These personalized touch points begin as soon as visitors enter, when their college football team's helmet will light up on the 55-foot-wide, 29-foot high entry wall.
Anchoring the exhibit spaces is a 45-yard turf field for interactive play and special events. The Hall was designed to host events for up to 1,200 people. The street level also features retail and restaurant space.
"We sought to bring the same level of passion and reverence to this project that players, coaches and fans bring to the game year in and year out," said tvsdesign Principal Kevin Gordon. "We are so proud to play a part in bringing a legendary experience to the epicenter of college football."
The Hall's design has already been recognized for its quality and impact on its context. It was recently awarded a Best of the Best Merit Award from the International Interior Design Association's Georgia Chapter as well as Best Design from Atlanta Business Chronicle's Best in Atlanta Real Estate Awards.
Hall officials say that construction of the facility generated a total economic impact of $67.3 million for Atlanta and Georgia. Once open, the Hall is projected to generate about $12.7 million in economic impact for Georgia annually, as well as $1.7 million in sales taxes to the city, county and state.

The facility itself is located on the Georgia World Congress Center campus, one of the many convention center projects in the world designed by tvsdesign.
The Hall is located at 250 Marietta Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30303. Tickets can be purchased by visiting cfbhall.com/tickets.
