TUSK Statement on Governor LePage Vetoing Democratic-sponsored Solar Tax
AUGUSTA, Maine, June 29, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Late last Friday, Governor LePage vetoed LD 1263, the Democratic-sponsored utility solar tax on Maine consumers.
Former Republican Congressman Barry Goldwater Jr. and his conservative group Tell Utilities Solar won't be Killed (TUSK) applauded LePage for taking a stand against taxes and protecting Mainers from policies that harm the free market. Now Goldwater Jr. is calling on legislators to support the Governor and reject the Democratic tax bill.
Goldwater Jr. released a television ad earlier this month encouraging LePage to veto the solar tax bill.
Barry Goldwater Jr., TUSK Chairman and retired US Congressman, released the following statement:
"Liberals wanted to use higher taxes to harm the free market and jeopardize solar growth in Maine. Maine is lucky to have a strong Governor to veto tax schemes that take control away from consumers. Now legislators should support their Governor and reject this liberal tax bill."
