Tributo Ferrari An Iconic New York Rally From Battery Park To Bridgehampton
ENGLWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., Aug. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ferrari is hosting owners and admirers of its mythic sports cars on a rally from New York's Battery Park to Bridgehampton on the East End of Long Island. Today over 60 models of the Italian performance car and their owners are expected to run in the Tributo Ferrari, with the ultimate destination being the Bridgehampton Polo Club to celebrate the season closer and the gathering of these exceptional Ferrari models.
In tribute to New York City hosting the rally, Ferrari has made a donation to New York Cares, an organization that runs volunteer projects for 1,300 nonprofits, public schools and city agencies to help people in need throughout the five boroughs at no cost to the recipients.
A silent auction benefitting New York Cares at the Bridgehampton Polo fields will include exclusive items such as a Ferrari Corso Pilota Driving School 2014 experience with a choice of participating in Montreal, Aspen or Austin, two tickets to the Austin Formula One Ferrari hospitality area and access to all exclusive Ferarri hosted events, and a limited edition Hublot Liberty Bang watch, among other items.
Tributo Ferrari kicked-off with a Friday evening drivers' briefing and cocktails at the Ritz-Carlton at lower Manhattan's Battery Park before an Italian dinner on the terrace at Eataly. The rally begins at 7:30 a.m. today on a northern route through the city, Times Square, Central Park South and the Queensboro Bridge before pointing toward Long Island.
"Our first Tributo Ferrari rally in New York City is a great opportunity for Ferrari owners and admirers to experience the best of this great city, together as a community of passionate Ferraristi," said Marco Mattiacci, President & CEO of Ferrari North America. "We're delighted that so many owners are able to join us for what is going to be a remarkable day."
Drivers and spectators will have the rare chance to hear the rich exhaust notes of a Ferrari motorcade echoing off Manhattan's canyons along the route this morning. Photo shoots are planned along the Manhattan portion of the rally route, at the MetLife building (200 Park Avenue) and then at Times Square and 49th Street. Reserved rally parking at the Ritz-Carlton at lower Manhattan's Battery Park beginning at 9:30 am on Friday is also expected to provide an impressive showcase for Ferraristi.
Once outside the city and closer to the destination, rally drivers and their teams will take to the country and farmland roads leading to the Bridgehampton Polo Club. Upon arrival in Bridgehampton, expected to be about noon for the front runners, the Club will provide an ideal backdrop for an Argentinian-inspired lunch on the lawn to admire this rare assembly of Ferrari machinery. Included in the rally line-up will be two Daytonas as well as an F40, 275 GTB, 250 GT Series 1 Cabriolet and Dino 246 among others.
