Travelers can follow @Travelocity using the hashtag #TTF2013 to stay up-to-date on happenings at the airport, and will also have the opportunity to win prizes throughout the two-day campaign by participating in the conversation.
"We know that Thanksgiving is one of the most hectic travel periods of the year," said Courtney Scott, senior editor at Travelocity. "Our turkey task force will be the eyes and ears of the busiest airports across the country, helping you get to turkey dinner with ease!"
Airlines expect to top 25.1 million passengers over the Thanksgiving holiday, making 2013 the busiest Thanksgiving season for flyers since 2010, according to Airlines for America. U.S. airlines added 2 percent more seats this year to accommodate the growing demand, so travelers should anticipate crowded airports and flights to be as full as last year (about 85 percent full on the busiest days).
Turkey Task Force members will be reporting on travel conditions via Twitter and are available for live or taped interviews at the following airports Tuesday, Nov. 26 and Wednesday, Nov. 27:
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (Atlanta)
- Charlotte Douglas International Airport (Charlotte)
- Chicago O'Hare (Chicago)
- Dallas / Fort Worth International (Dallas)
- Denver International Airport (Denver)
- McCarran International Airport (Las Vegas)
- Los Angeles International Airport (Los Angeles)
- LaGuardia Airport (New York)
- San Francisco International Airport (San Francisco)
- Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (Washington, DC)
As a very frequent flyer full of tips and travel tales, the Roaming Gnome will be hosting a holiday travel #roamtalk Twitter chat at 4 p.m. EST on Tuesday, November 19. Visit Travelocity's The Window Seat blog for Thanksgiving travel tips, packing tips and to meet the 2013 Turkey Task Force.
