Transportation Safety Leader Joins Driving Summit Advisory Board
Cathy Gillen to lead the North American Safe Driving Summit's outreach to government, not-for-profit, and industry officials.
WASHINGTON, Oct. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The North American Safe Driving Summit announced today that Cathy Gillen, a Washington-based transportation safety professional with over 20 years of experience in government, not-for-profits, and business, has joined the Driving Summit Advisory Board. The Driving Summit will convene May 15-17, 2013, at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Ms. Gillen is the Managing Director of the Roadway Safety Foundation. She has worked in the Maryland State Highway Administration, the Governors Highway Safety Association, Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). She is a recipient of the NHTSA Administrator's Award for Excellence.
"The Driving Summit will provide governments, non-profits, and businesses a one-of-a-kind opportunity to come together, share information, and collaborate to improve traffic safety," Ms. Gillen said. "The summit will enable organizations to build a broader base of support for their programs and products."
The Driving Summit aims to expand stakeholder support for policies, programs, and technologies developed to reduce impaired, distracted, and drowsy driving. The summit will highlight the role of the private sector in improving driver safety.

The Driving Summit has issued a Call for Presenters. The Driving Summit Advisory Board will determine which presentation proposals should be included in the Driving Summit agenda.
Participants in the North American Safe Driving Summit will include government officials, researchers, not-for-profit leaders, and industry executives, among others. Individuals who register for the Driving Summit before November 30, 2012, will receive a fee reduction.
