Transportation Safety Exchange Rating Becomes Safety Standard for NCAA's Ground Transportation Providers
FAIRFAX, Va., March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Transportation Safety Exchange (TSX) announced today that its safety inspection program will now be part of a multi-year agreement between GO Ground Options and NCAA to enhance ground transportation for teams competing in all 46 NCAA team Championships, including March Madness. This partnership between GO Ground Options and NCAA, which primarily involves the selection of charter bus services, was formed because of a shared focus and commitment to safety, improving the experience of teams traveling by bus to NCAA Championships, and cost efficiencies.
All teams traveling to NCAA championships by bus will be required to use only charter companies approved for the program.
"The inclusion of the TSX safety rating as part of this partnership between GO Ground Options and NCAA validates our findings that consumers and trip sponsors are demanding a way to identify ground transportation motor carriers that are safer," said TSX President Patrick Labriola. "With the hundreds of trips taken each year by teams traveling to and from NCAA Championships, safety precautions need to be at the forefront when making ground transportation service arrangements. Use of the TSX rating as a minimum standard in this program will enhance the safety of these traveling athletes, coaches and students."
"We're ensuring that the bus transportation that we provide for the NCAA tournaments are buses that have achieved the highest level of safety in the industry," says Bill Maulsby, President and CEO of GO Ground Options. "The NCAA made it clear that it would not compromise on safety when transporting student-athletes, coaches and administrators. If a bus company did not meet its safety standards, they would not use them. It really was as simple as that."
The NCAA program's use of the TSX subscription service that includes the independent on-site inspection will be provided by safety inspection experts that have been conducting the most advanced safety evaluations available in the United States for more than 20 years. The TSX approval process is the most comprehensive safety evaluation available in North America and includes monthly monitoring to ensure that a motor carrier not only achieves, but also maintains its safety standards.
"We're impressed that NCAA and GO Ground are so committed to safety," says Labriola, "both organizations believe unequivocally in raising the safety bar in the industry and are using the TSX standard as the means to carry out that commitment."
