PHOENIX, Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Transdev on Demand (formerly Veolia Transportation on Demand) today announced it has purchased PTG Enterprises LLC taxi operations with locations in Jacksonville, Clearwater, St. Augustine, St. Petersburg, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Fort Myers, and Naples, Fla. This purchase also includes taxi services to Jacksonville and Palm Beach Airports.
The taxi companies were purchased from PTG Enterprises, LLC (Peninsula Transportation Group) and Boathouse Capital, who was the lender. The purchase price was not disclosed. The taxi brands include Jacksonville Gator City, Yellow and City Cab, Clearwater Yellow Cab, Ft. Myers Metro Cab, Naples Checker Cab and West Palm Beach Yellow Cab.
"Transdev on Demand's acquisition includes 700 cabs, and 160 support personnel and we will immediately begin updating the vehicle fleet including new and innovative vehicles, such as wheel chair accessible taxis. Most management will remain with the company and TransDev on Demand will bring in regional support," said Brad Whittle, senior vice president for acquisitions with Transdev on Demand.
These new Florida markets will enjoy new technology such as cab hailing through its zTrip app that can be downloaded for iPhone® or Android®. The new fleet will include 250 propane vehicles immediately and an additional 150 to 200 propane powered vehicles in the near future. All the cities will see an immediate upgrade in its taxi fleets.
