NEW YORK, March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- GRAMMY Award-winning band Train's huge hit single, "Hey, Soul Sister," has reached #1 on the overall iTunes chart.
"Hey, Soul Sister," from their new album Save Me, San Francisco out on Columbia Records now, has also been certified RIAA Double Platinum (selling more than 2 million copies) and soared up the Billboard charts, peaking at #6 on the HOT 100 chart and #1 on the Adult Top 40 Chart. An international sensation, "Hey, Soul Sister" has already landed in the #1 spot in Australia and the top-10 in Canada, Holland, and Germany and has been featured in the promos for Showtime's hit show "Nurse Jackie" as well as part of the new ad campaign for Samsung television, which debuted during the Academy Awards telecast.
The band will be performing "Hey, Soul Sister" on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on April 8, "Live! With Regis & Kelly" on April 19 and "Dancing with the Stars" on May 4. Train will also have the honor to help kick-off the inaugural concert at the soon-to-be-opened New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey with Bon Jovi on May 26.
Save Me, San Francisco is the multi-platinum-selling band's fifth studio album and marks the restoration of Train's original line-up - vocalist Pat Monahan, guitarist Jimmy Stafford and drummer Scott Underwood. Produced by Martin Terefe (Jason Mraz, James Morrison, KT Tunstall), Save Me, San Francisco channels Train's early days, revisiting the roots rock sound that has made the band such a tour de force. USA Today raves that Save Me, San Francisco finds the band, "returning to its mid-'90s roots, when its hook-laden country-tinged tunes hit adult-contemporary audiences in their sweet spot."
Train is currently on their Save Me, San Francisco tour across the nation. For further information on the tour or to purchase tickets, visit www.TrainLine.com.
Over the course of 15 years, Train has made its mark on music history with their Grammy Award-winning song "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)" and chart-topping singles "Meet Virginia" and "Calling All Angels." Since forming in San Francisco in 1994, the multi-platinum selling band has seen three of their albums reach the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart and have sold more than 4 million albums in the U.S. Three of their songs have been top 20 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including their biggest hit "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)," and they have had nine songs in the top 20 of the Hot Adult Top 40 chart.
