Trailer Park Boys Mr. Lahey Brings Santa Quest To Town
HALIFAX, NS, Dec. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ - Lots of actors have played Santa over the years, but few have ever competed toe-to-toe with other Kris Kringles from around the world. Canadian actor John Dunsworth (Mr. Lahey on the Netflix Original series Trailer Park Boys / Dave Teagues on the Syfy original series HAVEN)has 40 years of experience impersonating the Man-In-Red, but playing St. Nick in this film challenged him in ways he hadn't expected.
"I've visited dozens of towns and cities around North America over the years with my sidekick Randy and with the Trailer Park Boys for our live shows," says Dunsworth. "But playing myself in a film is a different kettle of fish, so Santa John can't wait to see what all you little shit elves think about Santa Quest."
This film follows John on a whirlwind adventure from his home in Nova Scotia to Italy, Austria, Finland, and finally to northern Sweden to represent Canada at the Santa Winter Games. He knows the competition will be stiff and he only has six weeks to train but there's an even bigger problem - he doesn't believe in Santa. After the grueling completion in -25 F weather conditions, John returns home and barely has time to recover before hitting the road with the Trailer Park Boys for their annual live XMAS show.
The award-winning production team for this feature length documentary include writer/director P.J. Naworynski (May Day / Final 24) and creator/producer Edward Peill (Curse of Oak Island / Counterfeit Culture) from Halifax-based Tell Tale Productions Inc.
If you're hungry for more Santa John, there's a limited edition autographed bobbleheads available, a companion mobile video game called Santa Quest Winter Games, and the theme song I Still Believe In Santa is being released as both a music video and a single. The song features Dunsworth in his musical debut and was written and performed by 2014 Canadian Solo Artist of the Year Lennie Gallant. The film is being released in the U.S. exclusively on Vimeo and both the song and the video game are available for iOS and Android devices.
