At the TOURNEAU Time Machine, the brand's flagship store on Manhattan's famed 57th Street, watch technicians will begin changing the 8,000+ watches in their inventory today, and will complete the process by opening on Sunday, November 6th – the date Daylight Saving Time officially begins.
TOURNEAU CEO, Jim Seuss, explains: "We start with our flagship, the TOURNEAU Time Machine. It's very exciting for us because we get to turn back 8,000 watches, and we get to inspect and make sure that all the watches are in amazing condition for our customers. We have some remarkable up-and-coming watch designers with unique collections arriving to Tourneau. I like to brag that the watch world is definitely competing, and keeping up with the times."
Historically, the idea for Daylight Saving was first created by Benjamin Franklin in 1784 in his essay "An Economical Project". The idea was not fully adopted by the US until 1966, wherein the time was dictated to "fall back" one hour at 2:00 am each October/November. Certain territories, including Hawaii, Arizona, and the Eastern Time Zone portion of Indiana, are the only areas in the US which do not honor the time change.
