Topical Hair-Growth Developer Divine Skin in Talks With Bayer
MIAMI BEACH, Fla., May 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cosmeceutical developer Divine Skin Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: DSKX), headquartered in Miami Beach, Fla., has entered into preliminary discussions with pharmaceutical manufacturer Bayer Vital GmbH, of Leverkusen, Germany, relating to hair-care products. There have been no assurances of any formal relationship.
Divine Skin's flagship brand, DS Laboratories, includes Spectral.RS, an advanced minoxidil-free topical hair-regrowth treatment, and two formulas indicated for more advanced cases of male pattern baldness, Spectral.DNC and Spectral.DNC-L. The latter two incorporate 5% minoxidil, known to regrow hair on the vertex of the scalp, plus additional compounds shown in clinical trials to work at the hairline as well. They compete with Rogaine, whose only active ingredient is minoxidil.
Bayer Vital GmbH (BV) is the healthcare subsidiary of Bayer in Germany, with annual revenues of more than 1 billion euros. BV has more than 700 sales staff, tightly aligned with customer needs and sales channels, incorporating Bayer's healthcare divisions: Bayer Schering-Pharma (Rx), Diabetes Care (diagnostics), Animal Health, and Consumer Care (OTC). With a dedicated pharmacy sales force, Consumer Care comprises several well-known brands, especially aspirin, plus Bepanthen, Canesten, Rennie, Lefax, and Priorin.
Bayer's brand Priorin, an oral treatment for androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness), competes with Merck's brand Propecia and has been successful in Germany for more than 40 years. It is the No. 1 hair-loss brand in the pharmacies, with a market share of 17.4 percent by volume.
Divine Skin develops and markets high-performance personal-care products and distributes them under three brands, DS Laboratories, Polaris Research, and Sigma Skin. The comprehensive formulas exert a wide spectrum of activities against common skin and scalp conditions. Several products employ proprietary Nanosome technology to encapsulate active ingredients for improved bioavailability.
"Divine Skin has established itself as a leader in several topical therapies, especially hair regrowth," says CEO Daniel Khesin, "because at the core of our business model is aggressive innovation in pursuit of advanced technology. We don't make me-too products."
Divine Skin distributes in more than 20 countries through wholesalers, specialty retailers, online stores, spas, salons, and medical offices. Product details can be found at:
