Top Planet Bordeaux Wines Medal At 2014 Los Angeles International Wine Competition
NEW YORK, May 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Planet Bordeaux wines – representing Bordeaux and Bordeaux Superieur AOCs – shined during the 75th Los Angeles International Wine Competition. Judged for their quality at several price points, 24 gold medals, 49 silver medals, and 32 bronze medals were awarded, along with 9 medals for packaging. The wines entered in the competition were divided by appellation, then by style (oaked or unoaked) and finally by price ($15 and under, $15 and up).
The Los Angeles International Wine Competition is the oldest wine competition in the U.S. In 2009, they partnered with the Bordeaux and Bordeaux Superieur Winemakers' Association to establish a division that would showcase the quality and diversity of white, rose and red wines from the Bordeaux and Bordeaux Superieur appellations.
This year's judging panel consisted of Bernard Burtschy, Wine Columnist of Le Figaro, Rene Chazottes, Master Sommelier and Wine Director of Pacific Club, Deborah Parker Wong, Northern California Editor of Tasting Panel Magazine, and Mark Newman, Wine Consultant, as Head Judge for the competition. The following eight gold medal-winning wines were also awarded "Best of Class" in their category:
- Chateau Haut Philippon 2013 - Bordeaux
- Chateau de Seguin 2012 - Bordeaux Superieur
- Chateau de Lugagnac 2011 - Bordeaux Superieur
