Top Brazilian Editor attaches to upcoming feature film 'The Writer'
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - Luiz Schiel, one of Brazil's premier film and television editors, has attached to the forthcoming feature film, "The Writer."
Currently in pre-production, "The Writer" is from writer-director Marco Moura. The film tells the story of a novelist who encounters a mishap legal situation and undergoes relationship problems with his family and friends. In the end, all the confusion and calamity is ironically purposeful in his writing.
"After seeing Luiz's material, track record and editing style, I feel that he will be a key player on the success of the film," said Moura, known for the 2012 short film "Daedalus" starring Dennis Pietrantonio and Kerri Lynch. "He showcases not only what is necessary, but a unique style that fits the story perfectly."
Best known for editing the Rede Record de Televisão news series in Brazil, Schiel has emerged as a top editorial talent to watch. Legendários is broadcast in 280 countries and online. It won the Best Web Show award at the Brazilian Youth Awards.
Schiel said, "It will be a very big challenge to edit this movie. We need to make a thorough study of all the footage to build solid and strong scenes, experiencing all the drama that the film needs to have. But through a precise cut of the scene, color correction and making a strong soundtrack, we can surely screen a great movie."
Schiel's other editing credits include the shows Deu Olé, Dia Dia and Zoo, broadcast in Brazil on Rede Bandeirantes de Televisão. He has also edited for MootsaTV!, SneakersBR, Carnaval 2013, O Aprendiz (The Apprentice) and New Kids on the Blog.
Schiel attended film school at the University Anhembi Morumbi and the New York Film Academy, where he edited the short films, Rubik, OCD, Exit, Self, Woman and Positive.
Principle photography for "The Writer" is set to begin in October. Carolina Fink (Daedalus), Thiago Ruas (Daedalus) and Thiago Costa (Daedalus) are producing.
Actor Frank Czarnowski (Angels Around Me, Who's on My Side) is attached to play the lead role.
Artist Benilton Maia is doing story boarding for "The Writer."
